Why We Love It: Honey
Honey is a beautiful, natural fit for organic hair products. A by-product of flower nectar and the digestive tract of the honey bee, this incredible elixir has been used medicinally for over 8,000 years. Honey is chemically complex (it’s made up of some 200 substances!), with a number of amazing benefits to the hair and skin. Here’s why we love it as an essential ingredient in our products:
A nourishing humectant, honey locks in and retains moisture for healthier hair. It also tames frizz and flyaways and we love using it as a natural resin to add shine, volume and light hold. Do you have sensitive skin and scalp? No worries. Because of its anti-irritant qualities and antioxidant properties, honey is safe for you. Did you know honey is also antifungal and antibacterial? Is there nothing the mighty bee can’t do?
We understand the true vegan community’s argument against honey in natural personal care products, and occasionally we are asked if this ingredient will be removed from our product line. For us, at this point, the beautiful benefits of honey in nourishing the hair and scalp are just too good to pass up. We source our honey in a sustainable manner in the United States.
