Innersense Organic Beauty is a love story between two seasoned beauty professionals who crossed paths and shared a passion for hair, beauty and life. It is our story.

Our dream was to create something bigger than ourselves. Larger than Joanne’s career as a stylist and platform artist; larger than Greg’s decades in “big beauty,” where his passion for product development and formulation began. Our conventional beauty experience behind the chair and behind the counter were merely the seeds for growth. Personally, professionally and emotionally.

LIFE’S LESSONS BEAR THE GREATEST GIFTS.

This love story is also a story of family. Our brand was born and inspired by ours. Morgan, our first born daughter, was 22 months old when she was diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder, “Williams Syndrome.” As young parents, we struggled with not always knowing what to do or where to look for answers. We felt helpless, powerless and afraid. We wanted to raise our daughter in a healthy, mindful and loving environment, but during the darkest days of uncertainty, we struggled to find this in ourselves. It was the simple advice of our spiritual advisor that we clung to most, his words ultimately guiding us out of the darkness: “trust your inner sense.”

Though this circumstance is unique to us, it is universal in its humanness. We all struggle to find our way, but when we embrace our challenges as our greatest teachers, accept them and trust our inner wisdom, we find our way to a life filled with gifts beyond our imagination. This experience was a catalyst for us to create a life committed to mindfulness and purpose, and through the vehicle of beauty, we are sharing the lessons we learned with the world.

Morgan’s arrival, and that of her brother, Max, two years later, were blessings in so many ways: They were the sunlight our seeds needed to thrive, a message from the universe: It’s time to slow down and live as simply, healthy, and as pure as possible.

Our commitment to a cleaner, healthier lifestyle for our family paralleled an emerging trend in our beloved hair industry: Toxin-free beauty. We immersed ourselves in the study of green chemistry and sought answers as to why so many of our industry professional colleagues were being diagnosed with chronic diseases at higher rates when compared with professions in other industries. A new life journey began.

Joanne blends her styling talents with her healing touch to inspire, teach and create. Greg is our conscious chemist, an expert in green and clean formulations with a passion for educating beauty and wellness professionals, our retail partners and customers.

MEET GREG

Recognising the parallels between the toxins in conventional beauty products and the alarming number of health issues facing his industry peers, Greg’s fascination with formulation and product development morphed into a passionate obsession after Morgan’s birth. As ingredient guru for our brand, Greg is a leading force in the safe cosmetics movement, pushing the boundaries of green and conscious chemistry with sustainably sourced and meticulously processed ingredients.

MEET JOANNE

After two decades behind the chair, Joanne is the soul of Innersense Organic Beauty, the spiritual connection between our clean, pure, beautiful products and the stylists and consumers who trust them. A passionate proponent of self-care and the sacred beauty movement, Jo spearheads our wellness initiatives, caring for the caregivers – the stylists – and encouraging our community to tap into their innersense and fulfill mind, body and spirit. Joanne is also our resident hair goddess and designer of our hair ceremonies.

MEET MAX AND MORGAN

Morgan and Max are Innersense in the flesh, embodiments of everything our brand stands for: Family, love, acceptance and the belief that our inner light is our best light. Morgan, the inspiration behind our Quiet Calm Curl Control, loves to travel and all things Disneyland. A Broadway musical fanatic, she stars in so many of our Instagram videos as a joyful teacher and proponent of self love, laughter and fun. Despite being the younger sibling, Max’s love for his sister is deep and instinctual. So is his love for baseball (he could talk it like a 40-year-old at the age of two!). Max is studying marketing and finance, and is himself a conversationalist in this family of big, bold personalities.
